Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and what He has scattered therein of moving creatures. And He is, when He wills, able to gather them.”

The Shaykh : Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: The particle *min* indicates partitivity. *Ayat* is the plural of *ayah*, which is the specific sign for what it indicates. The sign that identifies and defines a thing is called an *ayah*. “From the signs of Allah” means from His signs that point to the perfection of His power (Mighty and Majestic) and the perfection of His dominion: the creation of the heavens and the earth. For no one can create anything like them. The discussion of the heavens and the earth has already preceded, and when the first and second were combined, the third was singularized, and so on.
