What is the ruling on taking a fee for cupping?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Peace be upon you

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah

The questioner : If you please, Shaykh, may I ask you two or three questions?

The Shaykh : Please go ahead.

The questioner : The first question is regarding cupping and its fee. In the authentic hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited the fee for cupping, or he said, "The fee of the cupper is evil."

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : In another hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a fee to the cupper.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct.

The questioner : So, if a person engages in cupping,

The Shaykh : is it

The questioner : forbidden for him to take a fee, or not?

The Shaykh : We do not say it is forbidden; we say, as the Messenger said: it is evil.

The questioner : Well, meaning Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, said:
And it is forbidden for you the evil things و يحرم عليكم الخبائث

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct.

The questioner : So Allah has forbidden the evil things.

The Shaykh : What are the evil things forbidden in the verse?

The questioner : Does it have a restriction?

The Shaykh : What are the forbidden things mentioned in the verse?

The questioner : And I have forgotten it, by Allah.

The Shaykh : I have forgotten it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : If you have forgotten it, it is not permissible for you to put yourself in the hole of a rabbit.

The questioner: Okay

The Shaykh : The verse refers to food items, the animals that are eaten.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : As for earnings, their explanation is in the Shari'ah from the Sunnah. The Messenger said, "The earning of the cupper is evil."

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And he gave to the cupper.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So, if you undergo cupping, follow the Messenger and give. As for the cupper, he should not take his fee.

The questioner : Meaning, the cupper does not ask for it.

The Shaykh : He does not ask for it and does not take it.

The questioner : And does not take it.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Well, how did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) give to him and accept from him?

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you, may Allah guide you.

The questioner : O Allah, amen.

The Shaykh : I told you, if you undergo cupping, give. And if you are a cupper, do not take. The Messenger gives because not every giving is in exchange; it is not permissible to give to one who does not deserve it. The Messenger would have a man come to him and ask, and it was not permissible for him to ask, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) would give to him. And when he would leave, he would say:
He only carries it as fire إنما يتأبطها نارا
He was asked, "Why do you give to him, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "They ask me, and Allah forbids me to be stingy." So giving is permissible in some cases, and it may even be obligatory, but taking is not permissible. Do you understand this picture?

The questioner : Yes, I do.

The Shaykh : Yes, likewise in our case.

The questioner : Meaning, if a person is a cupper, he should not take.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct.
