The Shaykh's comment on his fatwa regarding emigration from Palestine and the commotion it caused.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: He came from Baghdad and told me, "I was surprised when I arrived in Baghdad and found our Salafi brothers. Well, some of the brothers know him through his coming and going."

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: So they said, "What is this fatwa that the Shaykh mentioned?" He said to them, "A fatwa about what?" He said, "About emigration." He said, "Why? What happened with you, or what?" He said, "How is the media with us? It is making a huge commotion."

The Shaykh: The media.
The student: The Iraqi media, yes, the newspapers and magazines. He said they raised the issue, meaning they criticized it severely. When they filmed it, he said, "Just as they did with us, meaning insults and curses and such." We ask Allah that this be in your scale of good deeds.

The Shaykh: Amen.
The student: So our brother Hisham, naturally, to the extent that he was able to speak and such, he told them that these are fabrications and exaggerations and such. They said, "It is Allah's decree—Mighty and Majestic—that he had a copy of the book of the Shaykh Abu Malik." He said to them, "In any case, this Shaykh Abu Malik has clarified with complete clarity our Shaykh's opinion on the issue, so you can take it and publish it to the extent possible, imagine, and such."

The Shaykh : Yes.
The student: They said, "By Allah, we were in a dilemma; we could not face the people because, first of all, we did not have knowledge of the truth, and the people were all making a commotion and such. Yes, so we said, 'There is no power and no strength except with Allah.' By Allah, I ask Allah to avert this from you."

The Shaykh: Oh Allah...
The student: Naturally, they ask you to pray for them.

The Shaykh: May Allah relieve His servants from...
The student: Amen.

The Shaykh: and so on. Not everyone will respond to you, is that not so? So here is the place for the previous analogy: "For every sinner in the neighborhood, there is a collector," meaning those who do not care about violating the sacred prohibitions fall into them. They are the ones who will fulfill the collective obligation. Is this clear to this point?
The student: Very clear.

The Shaykh: So the collective obligation was fulfilled by those people who do not fear Allah in what Allah has forbidden, let alone what may involve leniency. Then I want to say a final word, and we say it on many occasions, including the occasion when some people with ulterior motives and desires took advantage of it when we issued a fatwa on the obligation of emigrating from the lands of disbelief or the lands occupied by the disbeliever, and so on. We say, "O people, if we say that it is forbidden, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and we do not say it from ourselves:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) cursed the accepter of interest and its payer, and one who records it, and the two witnesses لَعَنَ الله آكل الربا ، وموكله ، وكاتبه ، وشاهديه
Sahih Muslim 1598
Will everyone respond?
The student: No.

The Shaykh: We know the answer: No. Well, will everyone emigrate? The answer is no. So what is the meaning of this fishing in muddy water? That the Shaykh is calling for emptying Palestine for the Jews? It will not be emptied. There will remain the Ba'athist and the communist, and the one who does not care about the forbidden and the lawful, and who is not a Ba'athist or a communist, and so on. Likewise, I will say what I said earlier: Do not be the scapegoat. Do not make your son the scapegoat, your daughter, your wife, your sister, and so on. Then do not fear that the obligation will not be fulfilled, the collective obligation, because there are certainly those who have fulfilled the forbidden, let alone that it is forbidden in the opinion of so-and-so, who is, for example, Al-Albani. And you will find people who issue a fatwa for you. We have read many studies and theses that this requires entering the university for what? To find female doctors to avoid falling into the violation that the question began with. We say, yes, but it is not us. We do not make ourselves the scapegoat, but rather those who do not care about what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden. They are the ones who will adopt the fatwa of Zayd, Bakr, and 'Amr that there is no objection to entering the university even if it is mixed, because we need female doctors and pharmacies and so on. I say this will happen with our fatwa of truth and honesty that this is not permissible Islamically. And I have finished what I have.
The student : ... .

The Shaykh: And beware, if Allah wills, and may Allah bless you. Who was the one who wanted to speak at that time? Here, right here.
