The Shaykh’s note on the incorrectness of the narration (The best of the generations is my generation)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And by the way, I remind you that the hadith became famous with the wording:
The best of the generations is my generation خير القرون قرني
This is an error. Remove the word "generations" and put "people" in its place, because that is the narration, and it is specifically what is intended, even if there is a narration that is not authentic
The best of the generations خير القرون
So the meaning here is the people of the generations, meaning, but this suffices for us, that the hadith in all the paths we followed is only with the wording:
The best people are those living in my generation, and then those who will follow them, and then those who will follow the latter خير الناس قرني ، ثم الذين يلونهم ، ثم الذين يلونهم
Sahih al-Bukhari 3651
The safety, therefore, is holding fast to the Book and the Sunnah and to what the righteous predecessors were upon. Therefore, it is not sufficient for a Muslim, especially in the early ages, to have knowledge of the Book and the Sunnah, no matter how extensive his knowledge of them may be. He must add to them knowledge of what the righteous predecessors were upon in terms of creed, worship, and morals. Otherwise, he will inevitably deviate, slightly or greatly. This deviation, slight or great, will be in proportion to his knowledge of what the righteous predecessors were upon, or in proportion to his ignorance of it. This safety exists in the Book and the Sunnah for whoever understands the Book and the Sunnah. This is what I wanted to point out, but it seems to me that I saw a question here or there.
