Is it obligatory for the repentant person to make up the prayers he missed before his repentance?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : If there is a man who does not pray, and he repents to Allah and starts praying, is he required to pray the prayers he missed or make up the fasting he missed?

The Shaykh :
First: He must repent to Allah for his turning away from prayer on those days.
Second: The conditions of repentance are well known, namely that he must be consistent in performing the prayers at their prescribed times, and that he should increase in voluntary acts of worship to compensate for the much good he missed due to his neglect of prayer on those days.
