The questioner : He says: A man performed two circuits of tawaf, but due to the heavy crowd, he left the tawaf and rested for an hour or two, then returned to tawaf again. Does he start over, or does he complete his tawaf from where he stopped?

The Shaykh : Yes, if the interval is long, it is obligatory for him to repeat the tawaf. If it is short, there is no harm. This is because continuity is required in tawaf and sa'y, which means following the circuits one after another. If a long interval separates them, the first part, meaning the first circuits, is invalid, and he must restart the tawaf from the beginning. However, if the interval is brief, such as sitting and chatting for two or three minutes, then standing up and completing it, there is no harm. Yes.

The questioner : Are one or two hours considered brief?

The Shaykh : No, one or two hours is considered long.
Yes.
