The second question of Fatwa No. ( 11816 )
Q2: The tawaf around the Ka'bah has several types. What are these types, and what is the ruling on each of them?
A2: There are many types of tawaf around the Ka'bah . Among them is the Tawaf al-Ifadah in Hajj, which is also called the Tawaf al-Ziyarah. It is performed after standing at 'Arafah on the Day of 'Id al-Adha or after it, and it is a pillar of Hajj. Among them is the Tawaf al-Qudum for Hajj, which is performed by the one in ihram for Hajj and by the one combining Hajj and 'Umrah when he arrives at the Ka'bah . It is obligatory
among the obligations of Hajj, or it is a recommended practice among its recommended practices, according to a disagreement among scholars. Among them is the Tawaf of 'Umrah, which is a pillar of 'Umrah; it is not valid without it. Among them is the Tawaf al-Wada', which is performed after the completion of the acts of Hajj and the intention to leave Makkah al-Mukarramah. It is obligatory, according to the correct of the two opinions of the scholars, on every pilgrim except the menstruating woman and the woman with post-natal bleeding. Whoever leaves it must offer a sacrificial animal that is sufficient as an 'Id sacrifice. Among them is tawaf to fulfill a vow from the vows of tawaf with it, which is obligatory because of the vow. Among them is voluntary tawaf. Each of them consists of seven circuits, and the one performing tawaf prays two rak'ahs behind the Maqam of Ibrahim if that is feasible. If it is not feasible, he prays them in the rest of the mosque. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
