The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : There are some people who, when you ask them why they do not get married, answer that Allah has not yet commanded them to do so. What is your opinion of one who says this?

The Shaykh : I say that this is an error, for Allah the Exalted has given man strength, will, and choice to do what he wishes. His will is under the will of Allah, without doubt. However, some people use divine decree and destiny as an excuse merely to deflect what is brought to them, even though they know that this is not correct. If he were asked, "Why did you not pray?" would he say, "Allah did not command me to pray"? If he were asked, "Why do you not stop eating?" would he say, "Because Allah did not command me to stop eating"? He eats, and he does not say that Allah commanded him not to eat. So I say that appealing to divine decree is the argument of the weak one who has no argument. We say: get married. And when you get married, we know that Allah has commanded you in this regard in terms of the natural decree. As for the legislative command, Allah has commanded him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Young man, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps you from looking at strange women and preserves you from immorality يا معشر الشباب من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج فإنه أغض للبصر وأحصن للفرج
