The questioner : He said: May Allah guide you, O honorable father, and make you a helper in His obedience. I ask for advice to be directed to fathers and grandfathers who have passed the age of sixty, whose hair on their heads and beards has turned white, and whose bodies have weakened, but who spend their nights watching series and movies, and do not accept any alternative to them, whether in kind or in value. In fact, they sometimes miss the Fajr prayer and sometimes the 'Asr prayer. You do not find them maintaining the witr or the rawatib, nor do they care about musical instruments or scenes. By Allah, the hearts of the sons are torn apart with grief over them, yet they do not care?
The Shaykh : We ask Allah for well-being. I say to these people: Fear Allah in yourselves, and know that it is obligatory for the servant to be a good example for his family and relatives, not a bad example. Let them beware of Satan’s deception of them and the wasting of their time in what does not please Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Let them know that if their children see them in this state, they will imitate them. So my advice to them is: First, not to be engrossed in what the questioner mentioned. Second, to strive to raise their children with good upbringing, and to accept advice from their children, especially the righteous children whom Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has blessed with knowledge and action. We ask Allah for safety and well-being for us and for them, and until another meeting if Allah wills, and may peace and the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you.
The questioner : May Allah reward our Shaykh with the best reward, guide his steps, and benefit people with his knowledge, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger Muhammad.
