The questioner : And this says: A person studying in Riyadh, originally from Unayzah, who, upon leaving the boundaries of Riyadh, remembered he had left his books behind, and when he returned to Unayzah, the time for Maghrib had entered, then he left and combined the two night prayers outside the city. Is his action valid?

The Shaykh : There is no harm in this, because a person is allowed to delay the prayer until the end of its time. So, if he left Unayzah before praying Maghrib, he is allowed to combine it with Isha. But if he wanted to bring Isha forward while he is in the town, in his hometown, that is not permissible. So, in this case, the combination by delay is permissible because he is allowed to delay the prayer until the end of its time, and if that is allowed for him, he is allowed to combine. As for the combination by bringing forward while he is in his hometown, that is not permissible.
