A traveler from al-Qassim to Riyadh who catches the Maghrib prayer: may he combine Maghrib and 'Isha' if he is able to catch 'Isha' in Riyadh?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh, may Allah reward you. A man traveled from al-Qassim to Riyadh, and just before arriving in Riyadh, the Maghrib prayer time caught up with him. May he combine the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers, given that he is able to catch the 'Isha' prayer in Riyadh?

The Shaykh : Yes, I say: if this man is from, for example, Unayzah or from al-Qassim, and he traveled to Riyadh and got close to Riyadh, he may pray Maghrib and 'Isha' together because he is a traveler, even if he catches up with the people for the 'Isha' prayer. This is because he might say: "If I arrive in Riyadh, I will be tired and I want to rest," or something like that. We say: combine them.
But the question is: if he is approaching his hometown and he knows that he will catch the time of the second prayer in the town, may he combine them? We say: yes, he may combine them, but leaving off the combination here is better, because he will arrive in the town at a time when he can catch the second prayer in its proper time.
