If a person is in Makkah and praying in al-Masjid al-Haram while he is a traveler, is it better for him to pray the rawatib, or is it better for him to leave them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: May the Shaykh be respected, if a person is in Makkah and praying in al-Masjid al-Haram while he is a traveler, is it better for him to pray the rawatib, or is it better for him to leave them? If he leaves them, is he credited with a hundred thousand prayers, or is he credited with one?

The Shaykh : First: He saysThe questioner : The traveler leaves the rawatib, and the truth is that he does not leave all the rawatib; rather, he leaves the rawatib of Zuhr, the rawatib of Maghrib, and the rawatib of 'Isha'. That is, the traveler does not leave from the voluntary prayers except these three only. Pay attention to this, because some people say: "It is the Sunnah in travel to leave the Sunnah," and you find that he does not pray the Duha prayer, nor does he perform Tahajjud at night, based on this concept he understood, which is wrong. So know, my brother, that the traveler prays all voluntary prayers except for three only, and what are they? The Sunnah of Zuhr, the Sunnah of Maghrib, and the Sunnah of 'Isha'. As for if a person is in Makkah, it is better for him not to pray the three rawatib as we said, but he should take advantage of the opportunity to pray in al-Masjid al-Haram as absolute voluntary prayer, not as rawatib, and it is permissible for the traveler to pray as much as he wishes of absolute voluntary prayer, yes.
