The questioner : The questioner says: May the Shaykh please tell us, we heard of a wedding where coins were thrown at the women playing the hand drum, so we ask you, may Allah reward you, to offer some guidance on that matter?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that the hand drum and singing on the wedding night are part of what the Sunnah brought, to the extent that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Why don't you send someone with her to sing, for the Ansar like amusement? هلا بعثتم معها من يغني فإن الأنصار يعجبهم اللهو
As for throwing coins at the women engaged in this activity, the scholars consider it disliked. They said that scattering coins and picking them up is disliked because of the quarreling and fatigue involved, and perhaps they would quarrel, with one person holding one end of a bill and another holding the other end, until it tears apart in their hands.
