Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A woman asks: “Your Eminence, I work in a hospital. How can I maintain my religious commitment while I am a specialist in the women’s department?”

The Shaykh : In any case, she can maintain her commitment to the extent that she is able. Allah the Exalted said:
and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ
[Al-Hajj 22:78]
Therefore, she should not lower her voice in speaking to men, nor be alone with any man, nor uncover any part of her face except what is necessitated by need, such as one eye with which she looks. She should adhere to what Allah and His Messenger have commanded the believing women. She can do this to the best of her ability. We ask Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) to bring the day when clinics or hospitals are established exclusively for women and exclusively for men. That is not difficult for Allah. We ask Allah to guide our government to adopt this measure so that they are safe from gossip, and so that the committed individuals in these hospitals are also safe from the sin that may surround them.
