Advice for the coming year and maintaining voluntary prayers, fasting, and charity.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : My Muslim brother, welcome this year with diligence, energy, and a change from what is corrupt in your state to what is sound. For a living person can straighten his path with the will of Allah. And if he dies, he dies in the state he was in. Welcome this new year with energy in righteous deeds, with energy in noble morals, with energy in raising your children, with energy in raising your family, with energy in doing good to creation, with energy in all your works. Do not be negligent. Whoever becomes accustomed to negligence, negligence becomes his character, and he remains so forever. And whoever accustoms himself to diligence, resolve, and self-accounting, he will succeed by the permission of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). We have a future before us, we have days, days that are stages of righteous work. Every day, every day the sun rises, there is a charity due for every joint in your body. This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Sadaqa is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises.
Sahih Muslim 1009
. And the human being has three hundred and sixty joints. So it is necessary that you give three hundred and sixty charities every day. But it is not only charity of money, rather they are varied charities. Every takbir is a charity. Every tahlil is a charity. Enjoining good is a charity. Takbir is a charity. Forbidding evil is a charity. Everything by which a person draws near to Allah is a charity that suffices for one of the joints. Rather, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Two rak'ahs that one prays of Duha suffice for that - meaning suffice as a substitute for that - يجزئ من ذلك - أي يجزي بدل ذلك - ركعتان يركعهما من الضحى
. It is upon you, my brother, to look at what are the duties of the day and night. The greatest of the duties of the day and night after the two testimonies is prayer. Prayer includes what is obligatory and what is voluntary. The obligatory prayers are five, well-known, not hidden from any Muslim. The voluntary prayers include what is attached to the obligatory ones, what is independent, what is restricted to a time, and what is unrestricted. The voluntary prayers attached to the obligatory ones are: two rak'ahs before Fajr, four rak'ahs before Zuhr with two taslims, two rak'ahs after the Zuhr prayer, two rak'ahs after Maghrib, and two rak'ahs after 'Isha'. As for 'Asr, it has no regular voluntary prayer. But it came in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
May Allah have mercy upon a man who prays four before Al-Asr.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 430Hasan (Darussalam)
. There are voluntary prayers not attached to the obligatory ones, such as witr. Witr is an independent voluntary prayer with which the night prayer is concluded, by the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
Make Witr the end of your night prayer.
Sahih Muslim 751b
. So whoever stands in prayer at night, let him delay witr to the end of the night. And whoever does not stand, let him pray witr at the beginning of the night. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anyone is afraid that he may not get up in the latter part of the night, he should observe Witr in the first part of it; and if anyone is eager to get up in the last part of it, he should observe Witr at the end of the night, for prayer at the end of the night is witnessed (by the angels) and that is preferable.
Sahih Muslim 755a
. The minimum of witr is one rak'ah, meaning if a person prays the two rak'ahs of the 'Isha regular voluntary prayer, then prays witr with one rak'ah, that suffices, because he made the last of his night prayer witr. And if he prays witr with three, it is better, and with five it is better, and with seven it is better, and with nine it is better, and with eleven it is better. If a person sleeps through his witr, he prays it during the day. But he makes it even-numbered, meaning not witr, because the night has ended. But he makes it even-numbered so that he has made up his portion, but without witr. There are also other prayers for incidental matters, such as the prayer for entering the mosque. For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworak` at prayer.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1167
. The sunnah of wudu': When a person performs wudu', it is recommended for him to pray two rak'ahs. And let him strive not to speak to himself in them, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed wudu' and said:
If anyone performs ablution like that of mine and offers a two-rak`at prayer during which he does not think of anything else (not related to the present prayer) then his past sins will be forgiven.
Sahih al-Bukhari 164
. There is the Duha prayer, tahajjud at night, and unrestricted voluntary prayer at any time you wish, except the times of prohibition. They are from the Fajr prayer until the sun rises the height of a spear, and at the time of zawal until it passes, meaning when the sun stands until it passes, and from the 'Asr prayer until sunset. In these three times, unrestricted voluntary prayer is not prayed. But voluntary prayer with a cause is prayed in them. Meaning: if the voluntary prayer has a cause, pray it even in the times of prohibition. There is also: the zakah of wealth is obligatory. And there are other obligations in wealth besides the zakah of wealth, such as expenses, for it is obligatory upon a person to spend on his wife and his relatives.
- Yes, this comes as an interjection, he says: The owner of the car, a white Kola Box, yes, and an X lead, the number from the right: six, two, one, eight, five, five, one, in front of the student housing building, please help us, may Allah help him, we are in great haste. -
There is the obligatory zakah of wealth, and there are other obligations in wealth besides the zakah of wealth, among them: the obligation of spending on the family, children, and poor relatives whom the spender inherits from. And among them is the right of hospitality; if a person stays with you as a guest, it is obligatory upon you to honor him with hospitality. And among them is helping the one in dire necessity, and relieving the distress of the one in distress. And among them are the recommended charities. Give from your wealth what is obligatory and what is not obligatory. For your wealth is what you gave to Allah. Nothing remains for you of your wealth except what you gave to Allah. As for what remains, either you eat it and then throw it in the toilet afterwards, or you leave it after you, and its fruit is for your heirs, you have nothing of it. So what you presented to Allah from your wealth, that is your wealth in reality. And it is not your wealth that you store. And that is regarding fasting. Strive to fast on Monday, Thursday, and the white days. If that is not facilitated, then at least fast three days of every month, whether from the beginning of the month, or in the middle, or at the end, and whether they are consecutive or scattered, because
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used not to leave fasting three days of every month. And he did not care whether he fasted them from the beginning of the month, or the middle, or the end
. May Allah's prayers and peace be upon him.
