The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : I am a young man who wants to go to an Islamic country for the purpose of tourism. I want to take my wife with me. It is well known that the passport office requires a photo of the wife. So is that permissible for me? I ask for your advice, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : May Allah reward him with good. And I must offer him advice and counsel by which I discharge my duty to Allah. I say: he should not go. I say he should not go to other countries, neither to Islamic countries nor to Western or Eastern ones. He should stay in his country; it is safer for his religion and better for the protection of his family. The issue of financial maintenance, whether it increases or decreases, is not important. The important thing is that he stays in a country like ours—praise be to Allah—which is conservative. He preserves his religion and preserves his family. If he goes to other countries, he will find things that are wrong, openly displayed in the markets: women displaying their adornment, and many other things I do not like to mention now. So my advice to this questioner, and I say: may Allah reward him with good, I have told him what is obligatory upon him. So I hope he will accept my counsel not to go to a country other than our own, with its expenses, wasted time, and directions that only Allah knows about. And I say to you now, and you realize it: did you not see what you saw when you were young? Are you not now watching it as if you are seeing it? Yes? Indeed. These young ones will have their views imprinted upon them from what they see until they meet Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
So it is obligatory for a person to care for his family with good care. And in our country—praise be to Allah—according to what we have heard, there are pleasant sights, and there are also natural landscapes that suffice one from going abroad. Yes.
