Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward the honorableThe Shaykh : I am a young married man. And I borrowed one hundred thousand riyals on the condition that I would repay one hundred and fifty thousand.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : He says: I am a young married man. He says, and I took one hundred thousand riyals on the condition that I would repay one hundred and fifty thousand riyals. And this was to pay the mahr, knowing that I have children. What is the ruling on my marriage? And what is obligatory for me to do?

The Shaykh : As for the marriage, it is valid if its conditions were fulfilled. As for taking one hundred thousand and repaying one hundred and fifty thousand, this is riba (usury or interest) and is forbidden. He must repent to Allah the Exalted for what he did. If he has already repaid the debt to its owner, he must repent and intend to resolve not to return to such a thing. As for if he has not yet handed over the riba to its owner, this returns to the transaction between him and the one who takes riba. If he refers it to the court, the court has the opinion of doing good in it, if Allah wills.
Yes.

The questioner : We seek permission from our honorable father to announce a meeting with His Eminence Shaykh Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Bassam, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars. This will be on Monday, the twenty-second of the fourth month, at the al-Salihiyyah Mosque, if Allah wills, after the Maghrib prayer.
May Allah reward our father and our Shaykh with the best reward and benefit us with his knowledge. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger Muhammad.
