The Role Model in Knowledge and Action.

The Shaykh : As for the second topic in this meeting: it is an important topic for the student of knowledge. The student of knowledge tries to inherit the greatest inheritance that a human being has inherited. What is it? The inheritance of the Prophethood, the inheritance of the Prophethood, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2682Da'if (Darussalam). So the scholars are truly those who inherited the Prophets in knowledge, worship, character, and calling. For this reason, it is obligatory upon the people of knowledge what is not obligatory upon others in acts of worship, in morals, and in transactions, because people follow their example, they follow their example completely. So much so that some people sit with the scholar while he is praying, for example, and count his movements and stillnesses. And when Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) grew old, he stopped sitting for prayer in a spread-eagle position. So one of his sons said to him: "O my father, how is this sitting?" He said: "My legs do not support me." So look at the people's view of the scholar; they count even his actions and even his omissions. Therefore, it is obligatory upon the students of knowledge to be a good and excellent example in everything, so that they may be a righteous role model, and so that people may respect them. From that, for example: humility. Humility is obligatory upon everyone. And it is more obligatory and more emphasized upon the people of knowledge and the students of knowledge. But unfortunately, some students of knowledge do not have this character. In fact, some of them do not speak to people except with their nose. And they do not greet people. And if people greet them, they return the greeting with a weak response, and this is an error. It is obligatory upon the student of knowledge to be a light by which people are guided.
