Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: My father underwent a surgical operation, and he was able to go to the water, but he was performing tayammum and combining the prayers for approximately three days. So what is required of him, given that he was ignorant of this action and thought that it was permissible? I ask for his guidance and advice in this matter to open his heart and encourage him toward good.

The Shaykh : What I see is that he must repeat the prayers, because as long as he was in the hospital, the hospital, praise be to Allah, is in an environment where they know the truth, and there are students of knowledge and there is a telephone, so he should ask, because he is in a state that calls for asking. Since he was sick, he should have asked how to purify himself, how to pray, whether he should face the qiblah or not, whether he should stand or pray sitting, and the like. Because he was negligent, I see that he should make up the prayers he performed without wudu'. Praise be to Allah, if the first prayer had absolved his obligation, then the second one became a voluntary prayer. And if the first one did not absolve his obligation, then the second one became obligatory and the first one voluntary. The first one is voluntary, and Allah the Exalted will reward him according to his effort, even if it was done in error. Yes.
