The questioner : I am a young Muslim who traveled from my country to the state of Iraq in search of a livelihood. I was not a Muslim as I should be at that time, meaning I did not fear Allah with the true fear of Him. So I worked in a company that manufactures beer, and this is, of course, a disobedience to Allah the Mighty and Majestic. But after a period of my work there, which was about a month, I got to know a young Muslim, meaning a true Muslim, who befriended me and taught me the matters of my religion well. It became obligatory for me to leave this company immediately.

The Shaykh : Did he say "he believed me" or "he befriended me"?

The questioner : He befriended me.

The Shaykh : He befriended me.

The questioner : He befriended me and taught me the matters of my religion well. It became obligatory for me to leave this company immediately, because my staying in it is a disobedience to Allah the Exalted and Glorious. So I submitted my resignation, but the person in charge at this company refused to accept the resignation. I tried more than once without success, knowing that I cannot work in another place unless the company approves my resignation. And Allah knows how I am trying with all sincerity to get out of this place where Allah is disobeyed, but they refuse. And Allah knows how much I hate this job. So I want to know if my work there now is considered a necessity, and whether I am bearing a sin, knowing that I am trying to get out of it by all means. So I want to know if I am still a sinner in this, or does the following apply to me:
But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ
[Al-Baqarah 2:173]
?

The Shaykh : What I advise you is to stay in this company if there is good in your staying, such that you influence those in it to abandon what they are doing of selling these forbidden things. If that is not possible, then it is obligatory for you to leave them and get out of them. This is because your staying with them is an approval of what they are doing of falsehood. And Allah the Exalted said:
And it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them
[An-Nisa 4:140]
So it is not permissible for you to stay with a people who disobey Allah the Mighty and Majestic in front of you, when you are unable to correct them, and you are unable to advise them. And if you leave this job for the sake of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, then Allah the Exalted and Glorious says:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect. وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا * وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لا يَحْتَسِبُ
[At-Talaq 65:2-3]
.
As for your saying that this is a case of necessity, and Allah the Exalted said:
But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ غَيْرَ بَاغٍ
[Al-Baqarah 2:173]
, this is not a necessity, because necessity means that if a person does not consume the forbidden thing, he will perish and die. And what you are in does not require that. But there is no doubt that you are in need of staying, and need does not permit staying with the forbidden. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you. The listener Ahmad Muhammad Hasan, an Egyptian, sent a message saying in it.
