The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) cited, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on the virtue of knowledge, both learning it and teaching it, from Allah: "From Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him): It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with them both), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam) Al-Bukhari narrated it."
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) presented in his book *Riyad al-Salihin* hadiths explaining the virtue of knowledge, among them the hadith of Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) swore that if Allah were to guide one man through him, that would be better for him than red camels. "Al-Himar" with a sukun on the mim is the plural of "hamra'" (red female camel), whereas "al-Himar" with a dammah on the mim is the plural of "hamar" (donkey). For this reason, some students make a mistake and say "better for you than al-himar of camels," which is an error, because "al-himar" is the plural of "hamar" (donkey), as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Muddaththir 74:50] As for "hamr" with a sukun on the mim, it is the plural of "hamra'" (red female camel), and the meaning is also the plural of "ahmar" (red). But here it is the plural of "hamra'" (red female camel), which is the red she-camel. It was the most impressive wealth to the Arabs in that time and the most beloved wealth to the Arabs in that time. So if Allah were to guide one man through you, that would be better than red camels. In this is an encouragement to knowledge, to teaching, and to calling to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), because a person cannot call to Allah unless he knows. So if he knows what he knows of the Shari'ah of Allah and calls to it, this is evidence of the virtue of knowledge. Then he mentioned the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam) "Convey from me" means: convey to the people what I say and what I do, and all of his Sunnah (peace and blessings be upon him). Convey from me even if it is a single verse from the Book of Allah. "Law" (even if) here is for minimization, meaning a person should not say, "I will not convey unless I am a great scholar." No, a person conveys even if it is a single verse, on the condition that he has learned it and that it is from the speech of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). For this reason, he said at the end of the hadith: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2669Sahih (Darussalam) That is, he has become deserving of being among the inhabitants of the Fire, because lying about the Messenger is not like lying about one of the people. Lying about the Messenger is lying about the Messenger of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Then it is lying about the Shari'ah, because what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) reports from the revelation is from the Shari'ah of Allah. Likewise, it is said that lying about a scholar is not like lying about the general people. For example, you say, "So-and-so said such and such, this is halal, this is haram, this is obligatory, this is a sunnah," and you are lying. This is also more severe than lying about the general people, because the scholars are the heirs of the prophets, conveying the Shari'ah of Allah as an inheritance from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). So if you lie about him and say, "The so-and-so scholar said such and such," and you are lying, then its sin is great. We ask Allah for safety. Some people, may Allah protect us, when they desire something and want to prevent people from it, say, "The so-and-so scholar said this is haram," and he is lying. But he knows that if people attribute knowledge to so-and-so, they will accept it, so he lies. Or he says, "So-and-so said this is obligatory," and he is lying. This is more severe than lying about the general people. So the result is that whoever lies about the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) deliberately, let him take his place in the Fire. And whoever transmits a hadith from him falsely, knowing that it is a lie, is one of the liars, meaning: let him take his place in the Fire. And how much is published in pamphlets that contain encouragement or warning, and they are lies attributed to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). But some ignorant mujtahids publish these pamphlets and distribute them in large quantities, saying, "We admonish the people with this." How can you admonish them with something that is a lie? For this reason, it is obligatory to be cautious of these pamphlets that are distributed in mosques or hung on the doors, the doors of mosques or otherwise. It is obligatory to be cautious of them, perhaps there are things in them that are lies, and the one who distributes them has taken his place in the Fire if he knows that they are lies. And he said in the hadith of 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr: Sunan Abi Dawud 3662Sahih (Al-Albani) "The Children of Israel are the Jews and the Christians. If they say something, narrate from them, and there is no harm on you, on the condition that you do not know that it is contrary to the Shari'ah. Because the Children of Israel also have lies; they distort the words from their places and lie. So if they inform you of a report, there is no harm in narrating it, on the condition that it is not contrary to what came in the Shari'ah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). If it is contrary to it, then it is not permissible to narrate it, except if one narrates it to clarify that it is false. And Allah knows best."
