Is it permissible for a person to pray and recite the Qur'an directly from the mushaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : This is a message received from a listener, your brother in Allah, Khalifah, a Libyan resident and student in Yugoslavia. He says, "I am sending you this message to pose some questions to you, hoping for success from Allah." He asks in the question: Is it permissible for a person to pray and recite the Qur'an directly from the mushaf?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for a person to read the Qur'an from the mushaf while praying if he does not have the Qur'an memorized. However, if he has the Qur'an memorized, it is better to recite from memory. This is because carrying the mushaf in prayer leads, first, to not placing the right hand over the left on the chest, which is a loss of a recommended practice (sunnah).
Second, it occupies the eye from seeing the place of prostration, as the eye will be looking at the mushaf.
Third, the movement of the gaze and its shifting from line to line and from side to side, which is a type of movement of the limbs.
Fourth, the movement involved in carrying the mushaf, placing it, and turning its pages. If a person is in no need of these things, then leaving them off is undoubtedly better. However, if he is in need, such as if he does not have the Qur'an memorized, there is no harm in carrying the mushaf and reading from it.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
