The questioner : This caller from the Eastern Region, Abdul Wahhab Khalid, asks and says: What is the meaning of the noble hadith
Faith will retreat to Al-Madinah as a snake retreats to its hole. إن الإيمان ليأرز إلى المدينة كما تأرز الحية إلى جحرها
Sunan Ibn Majah 3111Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : Yes. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. In this hadith, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) says:
Faith will retreat to Al-Madinah as a snake retreats to its hole. إن الإيمان ليأرز إلى المدينة كما تأرز الحية إلى جحرها
Sunan Ibn Majah 3111Sahih (Darussalam)
. The word *ya'ruzu* is pronounced with a kasrah on the ra, and it is permissible to pronounce it with a fathah or a dammah. So whichever vowel you use on the ra, you are not making a mistake. The meaning of *ya'ruzu* is that it returns and settles in Madinah, just as a snake, when it comes out of its hole, returns to it. This is a glad tidings from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that this religion will return to Madinah after other lands become corrupt, just as a snake comes out and spreads across the earth, and then returns to its hole. It also indicates that Islam, just as it originated from Madinah, will return to it as well. Islam, with its strength and authority, did not spread except from Madinah, even though its origin was in Makkah, and Makkah was the first place of descent for the revelation. However, the Muslims did not have a state, authority, or jihad until they migrated to Madinah. Therefore, Islam, with its authority, influence, and strength, spread from Madinah, and it will return to it at the end of time.
Some scholars said that this is a reference to a prior event, meaning that people would flock to Madinah and return to it to receive the Shari'ah and Islamic teachings from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). However, the first meaning is the apparent meaning of the hadith and is the most correct. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
