If a Muslim does not perform the obligatory prayer or fasting and is martyred, does he die as a martyr?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The paragraph that follows says: If a Muslim does not perform the obligatory prayer or fasting and is martyred, does he also die as a martyr?

The Shaykh : If this is the one who was killed.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : In jihad, if he does not pray and does not fast, he dies as a disbeliever, and his abode is Hellfire, which is the worst of destinations. This is because the one who does not pray is a disbeliever and an apostate according to the stronger position. And a disbeliever is not benefited by jihad, nor charity, nor fasting, nor any other righteous deeds, because righteous deeds are not accepted except with the condition of Islam. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger وما منعهم أن تُقبل منهم نفقاتهم إلا أنهم كفروا بالله وبرسوله
[At-Tawbah 9:54]
And He, Mighty and Majestic, said:
And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed. وقدمنا إلى ما عملوا من عمل فجعلناه هباء منثورا
[Al-Furqan 25:23]
And He, the Exalted, said:
And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally. ومن يرتدد منكم عن دينه فيمت وهو كافر فأولئك حبِطت أعمالهم في الدنيا والأخرة وأولئك أصحاب النار هم فيها خالدون
[Al-Baqarah 2:217]
. Yes.
