Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In a question to our Shaykh once, I was in a public place and a man was praying the prayer, meaning alone, but he was praying the Maghrib prayer aloud. Two people came and lined up behind him. He was in the second rak'ah. They lined up behind him and completed the prayer in congregation. Is it permissible to pray in congregation behind this man, given that he intended to pray alone?

The Shaykh : Yes, the prayer is permissible, but there is a difference between this prayer being in a mosque where the prayer was performed, in which case a second congregation is not prescribed in any form, or this prayer being outside the mosque, in which case there is no issue with it and it is permissible.

The questioner : Permissible in congregation?

The Shaykh : Yes, meaning if you pray, whether in the mosque or outside the mosque, the prayer is valid in terms of being a prayer. But if you pray in the mosque after the regular congregation, it becomes disliked.

The questioner : Ah, after the regular congregation?

The Shaykh : Yes, it becomes disliked. But if you pray in the house or in the shop or in any place, it is better for this prayer to be performed than for him to pray alone.

The questioner : Okay, even if he intended to pray alone, and they completed the prayer with him in congregation, does he complete it with them in congregation?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Meaning, after the obligatory prayer, if I pray in congregation and I arrived at the mosque, is it better for me to pray alone?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : I do not form a second congregation?

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Like what these people do, meaning?

The Shaykh : No, no, it is not prescribed.

The questioner : Wherever they are, they come late and form a second congregation. Is this not permissible?

The Shaykh : No.

The questioner : Is there a question or not? It is yours, it is the one.

Another questioner : Welcome.

The questioner : And we have already explained it.

Another questioner : May Allah keep you alive, my brother, and I am perhaps the happiest person tonight.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. Praise be to Allah, by whose grace good deeds are completed!

Another questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

Another questioner : And upon you.
