From the establishment of prayer: facing the qiblah.
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, from the establishment of prayer is facing the qiblah, by the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:150].
The scholars said: Whoever is able to see the Ka'bah, it is obligatory for him to face the Ka'bah itself, and whoever is not able to do so, it is obligatory for him to face its direction. So the one who is far from the Ka'bah, even if he is in Makkah, his obligation is to face the direction of the Ka'bah, because he is not able to see it.
And the one who is able to see the Ka'bah must face the Ka'bah itself.
And here I point out what we see now in al-Masjid al-Haram: we see many of the worshippers praying in the lamps – meaning in the covered section, and sometimes they pray in the courtyard – the open section – and you find them facing other than the Ka'bah itself.
And this necessitates that their prayer is invalid, because they must face the Ka'bah itself, meaning the building itself.
And from wherever you go out [for prayer], turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] may be, turn your faces toward it
