The ma'mum's position with the imam is not free from four states: following, matching, preceding, and lagging.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this state, we clarify that the ma'mum's position with the imam is not free from four states: following, matching, preceding, and lagging.
He counted them for us.
The student: Following, matching, preceding, and lagging.

The Shaykh : Good, Zayn, following, matching, preceding, and lagging.
Following: performing the actions immediately after one's imam,
if he bows, one bows; if he prostrates, one prostrates; if he stands, one stands.
Matching: performing these actions with one's imam, such as bowing with the imam, prostrating with the imam, and standing with the imam.
Lagging: remaining for a long time behind the imam, as we see
some people remaining in prostration while the imam has already stood up, and the imam may have recited al-Fatihah or more of it, while this person is still in prostration supplicating to Allah. We call this lagging.
The fourth: Preceding: standing up or sitting down before the imam, or bowing or prostrating before the imam.
So what is the ruling on these states?
Listen.
