The student: I mean, right now I want to ask my brothers to listen to this brother, Adnan. Neither of them has given us the picture that should be the basis for researching this issue...
Another student: No, the issue, my brother, may Allah bless you, is that he does not see the number, meaning the residence, but this is what he has reached.

The Shaykh : He.
The student: Yes, so his detailing of the society, how the ruler was and what was obligatory regarding the subjects, it is possible to bring the evidence today. For example, what did Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) do during the caliphate of al-Hajjaj, for example?
Another student: It was not during the caliphate.
The student: Or in the time of al-Hajjaj, in the time of al-Hajjaj.
Another student: That is the great error. He made the society an "al-Hajjaj society." It is a society of believers, what is an "al-Hajjaj society"?
Another student: He depicts the Muslims.
The student: Because there is a caliph, an emir, and a governor.
Another student: Well, he depicts the Muslims under the authority of the ruler. How was their condition and how was the obligation regarding how they should act? He argues with the statements of Ibn 'Umar and the Companions who were present... For example, you have people in the Peninsula. We do not pray behind the open sinners, of course. There, we said to pray behind them... Yes, but how? Does he say this to the one who prays behind al-Hajjaj? This al-Hajjaj tortures and does such and such. Patience, patience, so they are patient and the partisans are beaten. When they were in prison, it was just that when one entered the prison, each one would reveal his secrets to the others and expose the second one. They did not have patience, to the point that they left the prayer. They left the prayer even in prison.

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
The student: Yes, so these examples are close to their minds. O Shaykh, he does not tie them together and does not bring an innovated division. In my opinion, according to my understanding, when he speaks, it is merely to make the picture clear.

The Shaykh: But, O brother in Islam, the naming is "al-Hajjaj society," and that alone is sufficient.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh: That alone is sufficient. The expression is not why he named it. It is an expression for a ruler, a governor of a specific country or a very small region compared to the Islamic area at that time. How much area was there? How many rulers were there, or governors? Many, many. Well, so every region is then called the society of the ruler.
The student: But al-Hajjaj became famous for his corruption, and the Muslims were under him, and what was obligatory.

The Shaykh: No problem. Just because he became famous, does that mean it justifies us naming the Islamic society at that time the "al-Hajjaj society"?
The student: No.

The Shaykh: In any case, either news that may come soon, if Allah wills, so that you can research this issue with him and the meanings he is aiming for become clear.
The student: Did his tapes reach you regarding this kind of speech?

The Shaykh: I have not received them for certain. And if I had received them, I have dozens, if not hundreds, of tapes, and I do not have the time to listen to them.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh: If I listen, it is only when I am traveling by car. I take advantage of the opportunity. Usually, in the car, I listen to tapes of different reciters who recite well without observing musical laws. This is usually the case. Sometimes when there is a tape and it catches my attention that it is important for me to look into it, I also take advantage of the opportunity and listen to it. But at home, I do not have enough time for it.
The student: The questions, O our Shaykh.

The Shaykh: This is 'Abd al-Rahman. I do not want...
The student : ... .

The Shaykh: The questions later. In the name of Allah.
The student: The discussion will continue.
Another student: Our Shaykh...
The student : ... .

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
The student: Welcome, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Welcome to you all.
The student: ... Abu Ahmad...
