The Shaykh 'Ayd 'Abassi's address, detailing the positions of certain sects regarding the Companions and the Household of the Prophet, and clarifying the position of the Victorious Group.

The student : Regarding the position toward the Companions, for example, there are people called the Nasibah who hated 'Ali and the Household of the Prophet, despised them, and spoke ill of them. There are other people, the Rafidah, who exaggerated in their regard for 'Ali and the Household of the Prophet, so they magnified them, and some of them went to the extent of claiming divinity for some of them. As for the methodology of the Salaf, it is to show loyalty to all the Companions and to the Household of the Prophet, to love them, and to take that love as a religion and a means of drawing near to Allah, and to guard the tongue from slandering them or diminishing them. There is no enmity toward the Nasibah or the Rafidah, but rather loyalty to all the righteous and the awliya (close friends of Allah). They love the Household of the Prophet, they love the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they keep their tongues pure from what occurred between them of disagreement. This is the middle position, and it is the truth. It is not only a middle position, but "middle" in the sense of being between two opposites. It is also the true position, and it is the good, virtuous position. You see this blessed call standing in the middle position in all matters.
