The waiting period of the divorced woman is that she be in a state of purity in which he did not have intercourse with her.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Second: that he divorce her in a state of purity from menstruation in which he did not have intercourse with her, because if he divorces her in this state—that is, in a state of purity in which he did not have intercourse with her—he has divorced her for the waiting period, as she begins a certain waiting period from the moment he divorces her.
What is the certain waiting period?
Three menstrual cycles, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Divorced women remain in waiting for three periods والمطلقات يتربصن بأنفسهن ثلاثة قروء
[Al-Baqarah 2:228]
, meaning three menstrual cycles.
Here, many of the common people also make a mistake, thinking that the waiting period of a woman who is divorced while not pregnant is three months, and this is an error.
