What is the wisdom behind the prohibition of walking in a single sandal?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Welcome, and peace be upon you. Corrupt societies have a great impact on righteous Muslims. Yes.

The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The questioner : How are you?

The Shaykh : I praise Allah to you.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah.

The Shaykh : How are you?

The questioner : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.

The questioner : How is your situation today?

The Shaykh : One question only.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner : May Allah increase your virtue. Has a reason been mentioned for the prohibition of walking in a single sandal?

The Shaykh : A reason? And what is behind this question? Is it not enough for you to know that the Wise Lawgiver prohibited you from walking in a single sandal, without asking what the wisdom is?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Is it not enough for you to know the prohibition without knowing the wisdom?

The questioner : It is enough for me, but if it is established, for the sake of gaining knowledge, perhaps you have looked into it.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is correct. As for me, I am content and I convince others to be content with the knowledge that has reached them, which is the prohibition by him (peace and blessings be upon him) of a Muslim walking in a single sandal. As for the wisdom, I do not recall it now, but it seems to me that in some narrations—and I do not recall their authenticity now so that I can be certain about it—it is from the work of Satan or from the walking of Satan. Therefore, for now, we are all content to stop at the prohibition. If we find knowledge about it, we will present it to you, if Allah wills, on another occasion.

The questioner : If Allah wills: So you told me that it is your strong belief that it is from the work of Satan.

The Shaykh : In a hadith, it is my strong belief... Then, if this hadith exists, I do not know if it is authentic or not.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : That is it.

The questioner : And may Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And may Allah protect you, if Allah wills, and peace be upon you.

The questioner: And upon you peace.
