What is the ruling on altering the natural creation if it is for adornment?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is the ruling on altering the natural creation if it is for adornment?

The Shaykh : ... Alteration is not permissible except out of dire necessity. If there is direct harm, this is permitted because this is not a matter of adornment. Our discussion regarding alteration is as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the hadith:
Allah has cursed the women who pluck their eyebrows, those who have it done for them, those who tattoo, those who have tattoos done for them, and those who file their teeth, who alter the creation of Allah for the sake of beauty. لعن الله النامصات و المتنمصات والواشمات و المستوشمات و المتفلجات المغيرات لخلق الله للحسن
So anything that alters the body of a man, or indeed a woman, seeking improvement and adornment, is forbidden and not permissible.
