Changing the creation of Allah: The one who is cursed is the one who does it for beauty and adornment.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Then he said, (peace and blessings be upon him), at the conclusion of this hadith, after his statement:
And those who file their teeth, changing the creation of Allah for beauty والفالجات المغيِّرات لخلق الله للحُسْن
, I hope that everyone who hears this hadith will pay attention to this last phrase in this hadith, for there is a great deal of jurisprudence beneath it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) draws attention in this phrase
Those who change the creation of Allah for the sake of beauty. المغيِّرات لخلق الله للحُسْن
to two important aspects. The first aspect is that the change whose doer is cursed is only that which is changed for the sake of beauty and for adorning the body. However, if the person does it not for beauty, but rather out of necessity or due to harm that befalls his body—for example, suppose a person is born with one eyelid having a defect and drooping over the other eyelid, so he undergoes a surgical operation to open the eyelid—then it is said that this change was not for beauty but for the sake of vision. This is permissible because the Messenger (peace be upon him) attributed the curse of those women who change the creation of Allah to the cause of beauty. If it is not for beauty, they are exempt from it being a sin. The other thing that this explanatory phrase
Those who change the creation of Allah for the sake of beauty. المغيِّرات لخلق الله للحُسْن
indicates is that anything in the body of a woman or a man that is changed for beauty is included in the curse due to the presence of the cause. For example, we hear today that some preachers or teachers say that plucking the eyebrows is only the eyebrow, and some add that it is the eyebrow and the cheek, and some add that it is the face. We say: First, the meaning of plucking the eyebrows is general, as we explained earlier. Second, the change in any part of the body, let it be the place in question, which is the leg. If a woman is hairy and has thick hair on her leg, this is the creation of Allah. If the woman plucks it out, she has changed the creation of Allah for beauty and adornment... and beautification. In that case, the curse that is directed at those who pluck their eyebrows in general, and at those who tattoo, and at those who file their teeth, encompasses her. Thus, his statement (peace and blessings be upon him):
Those who change the creation of Allah for the sake of beauty. المغيِّرات لخلق الله للحُسْن
, has benefited us by showing that any change whose motive is beauty and adornment is cursed, in whatever place and in whatever form this change is, whether it is by plucking the eyebrows or by tattooing.
