It is not narrated from the Companions that they used to say the ameen aloud; rather, that was only narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him); so what is the guidance?

The questioner : It is not narrated that the Companions raised their voices with the ameen, but rather it was narrated ... from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he was the most prominent and well-known in this regard.

The Shaykh : We have answered a question like this before, and we repeat the statement in it for clarification and explanation; Wail mentions what he felt and what he heard; so either we assume that he heard the loudness of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and the loudness of the noble Companions behind him, or we assume that he heard the loudness of the Messenger (peace be upon him) without the loudness of the noble Companions. If we look at his hadith, with which of the two assumptions we made does it meet and agree? It is with the assumption that he heard only the Messenger and did not hear the others. And if we assume that he also heard the noble Companions, it is said: It was incumbent upon him, by the requirement of academic integrity, to convey to the generation that comes after him the entirety of what he saw and the entirety of what he heard. And we have assumed that he heard the loudness from the Companions just as he heard it from the Prophet; so why does he convey to us some and conceal from us some? This is not befitting for any individual among the Muslims, from the general Muslims, let alone for a Companion of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
Then what compels us to involve ourselves in this dilemma by saying that Wail narrated some and left out some? What? If we had another explicit and authentic Sunnah that the Companions used to say the ameen aloud behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we would say: To Allah we belong and to Him we return; that Wail preserved for us some and forgot some, but Allah enabled for us someone who preserved for us the rest. This is what we could say if we assumed that some of the Companions preserved for us the loudness of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). But the reality is that there is no such preservation, and the reality is that Wail ibn Hujr is one of the preservers of the Companions; so it is expected that he conveyed the message to us as he saw it and as he heard it. This is what we should testify to Allah with, and we should not have a bad opinion, or say something that leads us to having a bad opinion of any of the Companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Yes.
