Labeling Muslims as extremists by non-Muslims.

The questioner : Therefore, the professor, they now want to harm true Islam. Foreign radio stations focus on the accusation of Salafism, saying "Salafi fundamentalism," fundamentalist and Salafi, but they... the Iranians, or every extremist, the Muslim Brotherhood, or the Islamic Jihad Party, or the Iranians too, or the Iranian Jihad Party, this... those who hold this view, especially our newspapers repeat it.

The Shaykh : This is what harms us, may Allah bless you. I mean, regarding the disbelievers who rejected the Shari'ah of Allah in principle and in detail, what concerns us is that we establish the differences between the Islamic sects. Our nominal affiliation first, and then the actual and practical affiliation. What concerns us is the disbelievers, because as you know from the saying of the scholars, "There is no sin after disbelief." So as long as the disbelievers say what they say, whatever they wish, but we have those who say, "We are Muslims like you, and we also belong to the Book and the Sunnah." At that time, we argue with them based on affiliation to the Salaf al-Salih, headed by the Companions who received Islam directly from the mouth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in wording, meaning, and application. Yes, this is a very important point, in my belief, because the refusal of these sects to affiliate with the Salaf and to restrict themselves only to the Book and the Sunnah. And you perhaps remember with me what is narrated from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab: "If people argue with you using the Qur'an, argue with them using the Sunnah, for the Qur'an is a carrier of multiple meanings." This is a correct statement. What concerns us is the validity of the chain to 'Umar, or not? Because this corresponds to reality. The Sunnah is what places, as they say today, the dots on the letters, preventing the people of desires from manipulating the texts of the Book and interpreting them as they please and as they desire. Likewise, of this exact nature is returning to the Salaf al-Salih who transmitted this Shari'ah to us. They are the ones from whom we can take that this text is general or specific, or absolute or restricted, because they saw it applied in reality. The truth is that this point is one of the greatest points of liberation from falling into deviation to the right or to the left, and it is the observation of the application of the Salaf to the texts of the Book and the Sunnah.
