A word on the fact that knowledge is not beneficial unless one acts upon what one has learned
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The beneficial knowledge is the Book of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, standing upon the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in its three categories, and following the righteous Salaf (may Allah be pleased with them), for they are the ones referred to in the saying of the Mighty and Majestic: [An-Nisa 4:115] The believers mentioned in this verse are, first and foremost, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), for they are the ones who oversaw the knowledge of his Sunnah (peace be upon him) in speech, action, and approval. Therefore, knowledge will not be beneficial except with these conditions. After that, this knowledge must be accompanied by righteous action; otherwise, this knowledge will be a proof against its owner, whereas it should have been a rank and high degrees for him in Paradise, as Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: [Al-Mujadila 58:11] So I want to mentionThe questioner : that the beneficial knowledge, after we have clarified it, does not benefit its owner but rather harms him if he does not act upon it. The texts regarding this are numerous from the Book of Allah and the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and also from the athar of the righteous Salaf. From the speech of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is His saying: [As-Saf 61:2-3] And the hadiths of the Messenger (peace be upon him) warning against turning away from action are numerous and very numerous, or warning against the action of the scholar contradicting his speech, or his speech contradicting his action. These hadiths are also numerous.
And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
ومن يشاقق الرسول من بعد ما تبين له الهدى ويتبع غير سبيل المؤمنين نوله ما تولى ونصله جهنم وساءت مصيراAllah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees
يرفع الله الذين آمنوا منكم والذين أوتوا العلم درجات(2) O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? (3) Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do.
يا أيها الذين آمنوا لم تقولون ما لا تفعلون كبر مقتا عند الله أن تقولوا ما لا تفعلون
