Is it said that if the imam wants to sit for the resting sitting in the prayer, he must first teach it to the people before he implements it?

The student: All right, bring the second question. We haven't finished drinking the tea yet. It's your turn.

The questioner: In the case that the imam performs the resting sitting.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner: The imam performs the resting sitting.

The Shaykh: The imam, what?

The questioner: He performs the resting sitting.
The student: When the imam stands up from the prostration of the first rak'ah, or from the prostration of the second to the third, he sits for the resting sitting, yes.

The questioner: And the people did not know about the recommended nature of this sitting, whether he performs it.

The Shaykh: Whether.

The questioner: Whether he performs it or leaves it until he teaches it to the people, or the opposite.

The Shaykh: Yes, you are saying that if the worshippers behind him are ignorant of this recommended practice.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh: And the imam is a follower of the Sunnah and wants to perform it. I want to answer you in my way, so I will say to you: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was revealed to him from the sky about everything, including the prayer and its manner, correct?

The questioner : Correct.

The Shaykh: Did his Companions know what he knew?

The questioner: No.

The Shaykh: Yes, after that, how did they learn from him? They saw him, they listened to him, they did what they saw from him and what they heard from him, correct.

The questioner : Correct.

The Shaykh: This is a brief introduction. It is not easy for an imam among the imams of the Muslims to be included in the generality of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The scholars are the heirs of the prophets.
. It is not easy for every imam who leads the Muslims to be included in the generality of this praise
The scholars are the heirs of the prophets.
. How do they achieve this inheritance? By following the path of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). If you remember these facts, which are self-evident, may Allah will it, I will give you the answer now: The imam should pray according to the Sunnah, but not just pray and walk away. Rather, he teaches and guides. He clarifies to them that this is a neglected, abandoned Sunnah. Those whom you are pointing to, because they are ignorant of this Sunnah, will become aware of it; is that not so?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: Especially if he follows up with reminding them, like his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayers
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
. At that time, whoever Allah wills guidance for will be guided and will follow the imam in this Sunnah and in others, and
And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another
[Al-Isra 17:15]
. The imam should pray as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray, but he does not make that a secret concept for himself; rather, he distributes it to all the people, and
If I were to guide a single man through your hand, it would be more beloved to me than the red camels.
. This is sufficient.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
