A letter from Shaykh Muhammad 'Ayd 'Abbas to his Shaykh, Al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him), immediately after his release from prison.

The Shaykh : ... the place of the lesson, as I mentioned to you in prison.

The questioner : ... our Shaykh.
Al-Halabi: Yes, I am a witness to what I mentioned to you. Of course, after speaking, it is a supplication for the Shaykh and our Shaykh, "From MuhammadEid Abbasi : to his esteemed and great teacher, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman Muhammad Nasir al-Albani (may Allah preserve him and grant him scrupulousness). Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. As for what follows, I tried several times to call you on the phone but failed due to the line being busy and your not being at home. I hope you receive this letter of mine while you are in the best of health, well-being, strength, and vitality. It is a pleasure for me to inform you, with good news and congratulations, that Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) has favored me and granted relief from the distress and release from prison, after my hearts reached my throats and my souls were distressed by what I encountered, and the trial prolonged, extended, increased, and intensified. Praise, grace, favor, and blessing belong to Allah. I can only say:
My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants." رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَى وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صالحًا تَرْضَاهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
[An-Naml 27:19]
My dear teacher, may Allah prolong his life and support his religion through him. How often I remembered you in prison, and I was pained by my separation from you, and I wept for longing for you and for the loved ones. I supplicated to Allah the Exalted to gather us together after we were scattered, and to grant me the pleasure of meeting you and your companionship after it was cut off. How often I supplicated to Allah to reward you, for me and for His religion, with the best reward. My dear teacher, perhaps you will blame me and hold me accountable for what happened from me, which caused this trial for me, and you have the right to do so. I often remembered your words on this matter and your advice to be cautious and not to intervene, and I do not forget that; I count it among the truth of your insight into what would happen. But I say, and I am sincere in what I say, trust, my dear teacher, that I felt, after entering prison for a period, that in the actions I took regarding the case, I was acting as if I were being driven.

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
Al-Halabi: "And that a barrier was placed between me and my mind, and I remembered that the noble verse fully applied to me:
And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ
[Al-Anfal 8:24]
"

The Shaykh: Allahu Akbar.
Al-Halabi: "And that regarding this matter, my thinking had ceased to function and no longer worked. I was greatly astonished by my situation, and nothing like this had ever happened to me in my entire life. Sufficient as a witness to this is that, as you perhaps remember, I had been imprisoned for three days before this imprisonment, and I encountered severe hardship in them. I considered it impossible that I would be lenient in falling into something like this. Then Allah made it pleasing to me and to my cousin Bashir, whom I was staying with that night, to surrender myself and let them do with me what they wished, despite my knowledge of what they do. I saw a dream and interpreted it in a way that came to my mind, indicating that I would not stay in prison except for a few days, not exceeding the fingers of one hand. So what happened did happen.

The Shaykh : ... .
Al-Halabi: "So I have no choice but to say: It is the decree of Allah, and what He willed, He did, and what He willed, it happened. The matter for which I was arrested is that I had met a cousin of mine, one of the participants in the armed work, in the Old Market in Damascus, after he had been in hiding for more than three and a half years. He complained to me of need and poverty. The matter for which I was arrested is that I had met a cousin of mine, one of the participants in the armed work, in the Old Market in Damascus, after he had been in hiding for more than three and a half years. He complained to me of need and poverty. I rebuked him for his work, but he did not accept it and asked me for financial assistance. He was with a person, and that person came to me later, so I gave him some money. Then he was arrested and gave information about me, and he involved me in some other matters. The summary is that what happened to me was one of the wonders and oddities. It is also known that the circumstances during that period were turbulent, and it was a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) that would leave the wise person bewildered. My great teacher, news reached us in prison about your death, then I learned from the brother Zuhayr Abu Bakr, when he came to visit me about four years ago, that the news was not true, so I praised Allah for that.

The Shaykh: "When he came to me, meaning in the visit about four years ago, that the news was not true, so I praised Allah for that, with abundant praise. Here is another lesson. And indeed, in the prison, despite its harshness and severity, there were benefits, among them: that many people were greatly or slightly affected by the Salafi call, and they loved you from afar and send you the best greetings. And one of the most important of these benefits is that the corruption of the path of the Muslim Brotherhood and their ignorance, and the obligation to warn against them, became firmly established in my heart.

The questioner: But I delighted him with two words I heard from you in one of the tapes, where you mentionedThe Shaykh : Muhammad 'Ayd al-'Abbas and supplicated for him. Yes, indeed, so I conveyed this thing, as if he was given good news that he had not been forgotten by his Shaykh, and it brought joy to his heart, praise be to Allah. Yes, that was in the presence of Abu 'Ali... he knows him well. Yes, in any case, I mean.
