What is the ruling on reciting the Qur'an while in a state of major ritual impurity? And what is the authenticity of the hadith: (A person in a state of major ritual impurity or a menstruating woman does not recite the Qur'an)?

The Shaykh : As for what concerns the topic of the—what is the second topic? Yes?

The questioner : Reciting the Qur'an.

The Shaykh : Reciting the Qur'an while in a state of major ritual impurity; here we say—also—that there is no evidence that forbids a Muslim from reciting the Qur'an while not in a state of ritual purity; except for hadiths, or some hadiths, that do not constitute a proof, such as the hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi in his Sunan from Ibn 'Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A person in a state of major ritual impurity or a menstruating woman does not recite the Qur'an لا يقرأ القرآن جنب ولا حائض

A person in a state of major ritual impurity or a menstruating woman does not recite the Qur'an لا يقرأ القرآن جنب ولا حائض

This hadith was narrated by Muslim in the Sahih. There is no doubt that the first thing that comes to mind from the Lady 'A'ishah's statement "he would remember Allah" is the recitation of the Qur'an; because it is the original form of remembrance, as He (Glorified and Exalted is He) said:
And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them وَأَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الذِّكْرَ لِتُبَيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ إِلَيْهِمْ
[An-Nahl 16:44]
. What is this remembrance? The Qur'an; so when the Lady 'A'ishah says: "he would remember Allah in all his times" ...
