Explaining the Severity of Hypocrisy

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the people in this era also have many hypocrites among them, deceivers who come in the name of Islam, while Islam is innocent of them.
If you examine their conditions, you will find that they do not know Allah for the blink of an eye in the unseen, but in the presence, when you see them, their bodies, appearance, and demeanor please you. And if they speak, you listen to their speech; it is the most eloquent and most expressive speech. You say, "These are the most fearful of people and the most knowledgeable of Allah," yet they are the farthest of people from Allah and from knowledge of Him. Their danger is great; they are the most dangerous of the categories of disbelievers. The hypocrites are the most dangerous of the categories of disbelievers, because Allah the Exalted said about them:
They are the enemy, so beware of them. هم العدو فاحذرهم
[Al-Munafiqun 63:4]
, and He said about the disbelievers:
O you who have believed, do not take My enemies and your enemies as allies يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تتخذوا عدوي وعدوكم أولياء
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:1]
.
And
They are the enemy هم العدو
This phrase contains a restriction, as if He said, "They are the enemy, and no one else," due to the intensity of their enmity and their danger to the Muslim community.
But there is no harm in postponing the discussion of this, if Allah wills, to another night.
