A word by the Shaykh regarding examinations and the vacation.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and the final outcome is for the righteous, and no aggression is except against the wrongdoers. And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, Lord of the worlds, and God of the first and the last. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger, the seal of the prophets, and the leader of the righteous. May the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows: As Shaykh Mahmud ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Sayyig has graciously suggested, it is appropriate that our monthly meeting in this month, the month of Rajab, which precedes the vacation that follows the examinations, be on the topic of discussing examinations and the vacation as well. As for examinations, their essence is the assessment of the fruits that the student has invested in during his period of study. The tests are a trust, not only for the teachers and supervisors, but also for the students. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, presented the trust as follows:
to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant. على السماوات والأرض والجبال فأبين أن يحملنها وأشفقن منها وحملها الإنسان إنه كان ظلوما جهولا
[Al-Ahzab 33:72]
. Therefore, it is obligatory for the students to preserve the trust in performing the examination, such that none of them cheats in any subject, nor attempts to cheat in any subject, whether that subject is a core subject or a supplementary subject. It has become common among some students that it is permissible for a student to cheat in some subjects that are not core, such as geography, English, and the like. This is an error. The ruling on cheating is the same for all prescribed subjects; it is not permissible to cheat in any of them. It is not permissible to cheat in them, because these curricula and prescribed subjects are issued by the state, and future jobs are built upon them for those who hold a certificate of success in these subjects. If a student cheats in one of these subjects, then his holding of the certificate is holding a false certificate. And what is built upon falsehood is falsehood. How many are the students who regret, those whom Allah has blessed with uprightness, who regret when they cheated in one of the subjects.
