The questioner : What is your advice, O honorable Shaykh, for students during exam days?
The Shaykh : My advice to students during exam days, and on days other than exam days, and during the vacation, is to fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic), to be sincere in their intention for seeking knowledge, and to fulfill the trust in the exams such that none of them attempts to cheat, whether for himself or for another, because he is entrusted with a trust, and because one who succeeds by cheating is not truly successful. Furthermore, the consequence of his cheating is that he will attain a rank through his certificate that is not permissible except through a genuine certificate based on truth. If a person does not succeed except by cheating, he has not truly succeeded. He will also be a failure if he assumes a position that is assumed by one who obtained the certificate in which he cheated, because he does not have the knowledge, and he will remain a failure in performing his duty. There is no difference in this between one subject and another; cheating is not permissible in any of the subjects. What is well-known among some of them that cheating is permissible in some subjects has no basis, and they have no knowledge of it. As for the vacation, I see that students should utilize it in a way that benefits themselves and others by devoting themselves to seeking the knowledge they love and find rest in. If they must relax themselves after fatigue and weariness, the best thing by which they can relax themselves is to travel to Makkah and al-Madinah to perform 'Umrah and visit the Prophet's Mosque.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
