What is your opinion regarding the operations taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly those carried out by women and those who are not committed to the religion, which some consider heroic acts?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : There are two questions, O Virtuous One.The Shaykh : In your speech or in your answer to one of the previous questions, you referred to the issue of the obligation to raise the flag, or the obligation of having an Islamic flag under which to fight in jihad. Now, the first question I want to raise is: What is your opinion regarding what is happening now in Palestine in terms of jihad against the enemy, particularly regarding the issue of women?

The Shaykh : Particularly regarding the issue of what?

The questioner : Women?

The Shaykh : Women!

The questioner : I mean, we hear a lot, and it is on the tongues of many people, these heroic operations carried out by women who are not committed to the Islamic Sharia or the Islamic law, and these actions are glorified and elevated to the point that we have heard from some of those who have some knowledge of the Sharia that they glorify them, and so on. This is the first question. As for the second question, some Islamic groups collect money, and this money is allocated to be spent on those who fight the enemies in Palestine. What is your opinion, may Allah bless you?

The Shaykh : First, there is no jihad. We have explicitly stated that there is no jihad in Palestine; there is resistance, and this resistance is of no benefit. The religious obligation for the residents of Palestine was to do what the first emigrants did, and what the first group of Palestinians did when the Jews entered the land and began to oppress them; they emigrated to the Arab countries. The remaining of these Muslims under the hands of these disbelievers is contrary to the wise Sharia. Second, this is not jihad, because jihad, and we always say and we also said in this evening before this gathering, requires preparation in two aspects: a faith aspect and a material aspect. Neither aspect is realized in Palestine. If anyone is in doubt about this, let him clarify so that we can discuss it with him; otherwise, there is no preparation, neither in the faith aspect nor in the material aspect. In that case, the Muslims there have only two options: either they submit to this unjust, disbelieving rule, which is not permissible, or they emigrate, and this is the obligatory thing.
Was not the earth of Allah spacious [enough] for you to emigrate therein? ألم تكن أرض الله واسعة فتهاجروا فيها
[An-Nisa 4:97]
. Now, I am amazed by what you mentioned about there being women who are not committed, and they come or they perform heroics that some Islamic men glorify. How is this glorification? I think this glorification is a surrender to that glorification, following Iraq and Saddam, and so on. One verse, O our Muslim brothers, if all Muslims were to think about it, they would know that they have no life except by realizing it, and that all these appearances that are glorified and called heroics are in reality nothing but
like a mirage in a lowland which a thirsty one thinks is water كسراب بقيعة يحسبه الظمآن ماء
[An-Nur 24:39]
, or as the common saying goes: "soap foam" or "a summer cloud," which will soon be revealed to have no rain or mercy beneath it. What is this verse?
if you support Allah, He will support you إن تنصروا الله ينصركم
[Muhammad 47:7]
. So the Muslims today are helping Allah in general. Whoever says that they are helping Allah must be one of two things: either he is a liar, and this is the reality, or Allah’s news is a lie, and this is disbelief, when He said:
if you support Allah, He will support you إن تنصروا الله ينصركم
[Muhammad 47:7]
. So, are these women who are not committed helping Allah in their own selves? The answer is no. How can we imagine that Allah will help them? This is impossible. But these women act like the Jewish women. The Jewish women fight, and they are also seeing their situation, defending their land and their religion, with all its flaws, just as these Muslim women who are not committed are also fighting in their opinion. But this is not of the path of jihad at all. Therefore, I do not believe that there is jihad in the Islamic world today in the true sense, and victory for the Muslims cannot be realized unless they help the Lord of the Worlds. We see the governments, and we all cut off, we as individuals, that the Islamic governments do not help the Sharia of Allah, and this phenomenon that we are living in now is the greatest proof of that. But there is a problem: this phenomenon that the individuals of the Islamic peoples believe in, which is that the Islamic governments and their rulers do not rule by what Allah has revealed. We forget ourselves and make our habit and the habit of these rulers, and we say these are disbelievers who do not rule by what Allah has revealed. It may be so, and it may not be, and this requires research. But we have forgotten ourselves. Are we ruling by what Allah has revealed? We are there, as you know, from his saying (peace be upon him):
You are all shepherds, and each of you is responsible for his flock. The man is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock, and the woman is a shepherdess and is responsible for her flock, and the slave is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. كلكم راع كلكم مسؤول عن رعيته فالرجل راع وهو مسؤول عن رعيته والمرأة راعية والعبد حتى هو راع ومسؤول عن رعيته
, and so on. So the ruler is responsible for the entire community, and he is the highest ruler. So the distraction of the Muslims and their turning away from helping the Lord of the Worlds is that they care about others and forget themselves, contrary to His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
O you who have believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided يا أيها الذين آمنوا عليكم أنفسكم لا يضركم من ضل إذا اهتديتم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:105]
. So we find many of the young Muslim individuals, and we find many of the Islamic groups, their habit is regarding the rulers: that these are disbelievers, these do not rule by what Allah has revealed. If you looked at them, you would find them like the rulers, but the ruler’s authority is undoubtedly broader, and the scope of the manifestation of his not ruling by Islam is also broader than the ruling of these individuals over themselves and their families. But even so, these individuals do not apply the Islam they know. Why? Because of the prevalence of desires over their souls. So they are with the rulers in the air, as they say. And I want to mention a hadith from which we derive the opposite of what we are currently discussing.
