Is the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) (the one who sits in it is better than the one who walks) cited as evidence for the Kuwaitis remaining in their homes?

The questioner: Well, Shaykh, the guidance of the Companions during the fitnahs (trials, discord or temptations), following the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
the sitting person is better than the standing(person) is better than the walking, and the walking(person) is better than the running القاعد فيها خير من الماشي والماشي خير من الساعي
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2194Sahih (Darussalam)
and they used to leave their homes during the fitnah between Mu'awiyah and 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both). Should we not take that as guidance, sitting in the corners of our homes as you said, not traveling, and leaving our homes?

The Shaykh : No. If there is fear, then distancing oneself from the fitnah (trial, discord or temptation) is another necessary step if there is fear, and if no harm results from distancing oneself, then there is nothing wrong with it.
