Is there any impediment to organizing certain matters that involve the improvement of nature and animals?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is there any impediment to organizing certain matters that involve...

The Shaykh : The answer was given previously, Abu Yahya. There is no impediment, but those who occupy themselves with such matters are fully dedicated to them; they have no worship, no study of the Shari'ah, and no orientation toward Allah. Rather, they orient themselves toward their own religion. Therefore, the Lord of the Worlds branded them with His saying, Mighty and Majestic:
They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. يعلمون ظاهرا من الحياة الدنيا و هم عن الآخرة هم غافلون
[Ar-Rum 30:7]
. We Muslims do not have to be like them. We must not imitate them, neither in their logic, nor in their sciences, nor in their clothing, nor in their morals and etiquette, nor in their traditions. This type of knowledge is a voluntary addition to knowledge. If the Muslims were to regain their honor, glory, and strength, that strength and glory is what made this Andalusian—whose name I do not remember—catch the attention of the disbelievers so that they would invent the airplane. What is his name?
Al-Halabi : Abbas ibn Firnas.

The Shaykh : This Ibn Firnas. So, when these people reached the end of knowledge, they no longer think about worldly issues, which are not forbidden, but they do not specialize in them to the extent that they forget their Lord and forget their Hereafter. We must not be surprised by the disbelievers, or by what they innovate, or by the things they invent that we are amazed by. That is their life; they have nothing to occupy them besides it. Our life, our thinking about our Lord, our worship, and our following of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do not open a field for entering into this scale that says a certain type of animal is permissible, we are afraid it will become extinct, so we must establish regulations to prevent its extinction. Look, here now is a legal question, and the question is at the end of intellectual stagnation, my sir. An animal became extinct; what will happen in this house? Tomorrow the earth will be ruined.

The questioner : Let me tell you.

The Shaykh: No, no, may Allah guide you.

The questioner : It is being ruined.

The Shaykh : Stick to the answer. It is being ruined? What is your evidence that it is being ruined and not being built up in another way? What is your evidence? Yes. Do not deviate from the answer... You are preparing your speech; that is your problem.

The questioner : I will review it.

The Shaykh : Do not review your thinking; review the question that is put to you. What do you answer? What is your evidence that if a people or a nation stood up and hunted a type of animal whose eating is lawful until it became extinct, the universe would be ruined! I said, yes.

The questioner : It will be ruined partially.

The Shaykh : Okay, keep this answer: it will be ruined partially. What follows from the ruin of this part?

The questioner : The world will then be ruined little by little!

The Shaykh : It starts to be ruined. Is that how it happens? Do you think the universe will be completed like this, or will it be ruined?

The questioner : It will be ruined.

The Shaykh : If this is a precursor to the ruin of the universe, then what do you care about anymore?

The questioner : Okay, one minute, let me speak to you?

The Shaykh : No, before one minute. And the animals that became extinct because of humans, did you not make them into two categories?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : The cause of extinction because of humans, what has happened to the earth now?

The questioner : They confused me.

The Shaykh : May Allah guide them? And I am with them. What has happened to the earth after this animal became extinct? What has happened to the earth?

The questioner : Several things will happen to the earth!

The Shaykh : It is not going to happen; I am telling you what happened?

Another questioner : The dinosaurs became extinct; what happened to the earth?

The questioner : The dinosaurs are of the second type. The dinosaurs, Allah wanted them so that the scale would be completed.

The Shaykh : The dodo, my brother. We are talking about the animal whose extinction was caused by humans; what happened to the earth?

The questioner : Every animal has a duty and a function?

The Shaykh : May Allah guide you, my brother. This animal that became extinct by the will of Allah did not have a function!

The questioner : Excuse me, let me give you an example.

The Shaykh : No. Answer my question! Did you not understand me yet?

The questioner : They will remain like this...

The Shaykh : They will remain to cause trouble for these people. The first category that became extinct did not have a function on earth?

The questioner : It had a function.

The Shaykh : Okay, when it became extinct, what happened to this function?

The questioner : There was a partial defect?

The Shaykh : What followed from the partial defect?

The questioner : A catastrophe; it will become a catastrophe later.

The Shaykh : Ah, my brother, do not say "it will become"; say "it became."

The questioner : Ah, for example, Australia ruined the scale; they brought how many rabbits from England? Six pairs!

The Shaykh : I am talking.

The questioner : I did not read much about it.

The Shaykh : Allahu, Subhanak Allah wa bihamdika, ashhadu an la ilaha illa Anta.
