The Importance of the Obligation to Let the Beard Grow
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The important point, may Allah reward you, is that the summary of the matter is that Muslims today, whether young men, middle-aged men, old men, or doctors, are very lax regarding this legal ruling. This is not only in action, but also in understanding and belief. For we all know that committing a wrong is a wrong, but approving of a wrong is another wrong. For example, if one who engages in usury assumes that there is nothing wrong with his usury, we cannot imagine that he will ever repent. But if he knows that it is forbidden and not permissible, then it is hoped that he will one day repent to Allah, Mighty and Majestic. As for the issue of the beard, first, our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and all the Companions grew their beards; none of them ever shaved their beards. Then it was the same with the Tabi'un, and then the mujtahid imams. Why do we dare to oppose this entire Salaf, starting from their master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to the four Imams and those who followed them with excellence, who stated the obligation of letting the beard grow and who established in their books that the testimony of one who shaves his beard is not accepted, because they considered that shaving from these shavers was open sinfulness? Why do we oppose this majority? And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says this verse alone is sufficient, besides this scientific research which some may consider to be like philosophy, but it is knowledge and it is the truth, just as you speak. If there were nothing in the matter but the following verse, which is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [An-Nur 24:63] (peace be upon him) [An-Nur 24:63] and the other verse [An-Nisa 4:115] Today, in shaving our beards, we do not follow the path of the believers; rather, unfortunately, we follow the path of the disbelievers. Everyone who has some culture admits to me that when they colonized our lands, they colonized us, and this is a more dangerous colonization, intellectually and culturally. When they left our lands and left us, in our belief, free, we find that we are still enslaved to them intellectually. Where was shaving the beard in the custom of the Muslims? Never. This custom was introduced by the Turks, who extended into Western Europe and occupied much of those lands. But unfortunately, they did not have the immunity of the Book and the Sunnah that would have kept them maintaining Islamic customs. So they approved of shaving the beard and approved of changing the Arab dress to this tight clothing, from which result matters that conflict with the perfection of the prayer. You will find the young man who prays in trousers has to make movements to lift them a bit, and the trousers are for the iron so that it does not break, and perhaps it does not open from behind due to the tightness of the cut. Where did all this come from? It came to us from intellectual colonization. Therefore, there is no salvation for the Muslims, ever, except that they return first, in knowledge, jurisprudence, and culture, to the Book and the Sunnah, and then that they train themselves on this correct culture that has not been influenced by the imports that come to us and continue to come to us today from the disbelieving West. And this is a reminder, and the reminder benefits the believers, if Allah wills.
So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order
فليحذر الذين يخالفون عن أمرهlest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment.
أن تصيبهم فتنة أو يصيبهم عذاب أليمAnd whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
