On the occasion of the festival, during the prayer, women attend the festival prayer behind the men, even though the place of prayer is not a mosque but an open area; is it permissible for them?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : On the occasion of the festival, during the prayer, women attend the festival prayer behind the men, even though the place of prayer is not a mosque but an open area; is it permissible for them to pray behind the congregation?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is permissible for them to do so. In fact, for the festival prayer specifically, it is recommended for women to go out. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that women go out for the festival prayer, including menstruating women, women in their private chambers, and young girls. However, menstruating women should stay away from the prayer area. There is no blame on them if they stand behind the men without a barrier. But it is obligatory for them to cover their faces, because it is not permissible for a woman to uncover her face in front of men other than her mahram (a relative one may not marry) and her husband.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
