What are the conditions for the clothing of the Muslim man?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Okay, the third question is: What are the conditions for a man's clothing, and which of the common clothes worn today meet these conditions?

The Shaykh : Muslims in their various countries are not required to adhere to a specific garment or a particular dress code imposed by Islam. Rather, every people may wear whatever they wish, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Eat what you like and wear what you like as long as two things miss you : prodigality and pride.
Mishkat al-Masabih 4380
However, Islam has established certain restrictions and conditions for the clothing of Muslims. After allowing them freedom in terms of style and appearance to wear whatever they wish, it set limits that they must observe. For example, it mandated that their clothing not resemble the clothing of the disbelievers. So wear what you wish, but avoid imitating the disbelievers in your clothing; this is one condition. The second condition is that you must not let your garment hang below the ankles, regardless of the type of garment, whether it is a shirt, an abaya, trousers, or any other clothing you know by name. It is not permissible for men to have a garment that extends below the ankles, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
What extends below the ankles.
or
but what comes lower than the ankles is in Hell
Sunan Abi Dawud 4093Sahih (Al-Albani)
This is similar to the first restriction, which is not imitating the disbelievers in clothing, and the second restriction is that it not be long below the ankles. The third restriction is the one mentioned earlier in the hadith
Eat what you like and wear what you like as long as two things miss you : prodigality and pride.
Mishkat al-Masabih 4380
meaning do not be extravagant in your clothing and do not be arrogant in it, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah the Mighty and Majestic will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.
So the answer is clear: every people may wear whatever they like, provided they avoid these violations: imitating the disbelievers, lengthening the garment, extravagance in it, and arrogance in it. This is the answer.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : Regarding the regulation of transparency

The Shaykh : Ah, here some of our brothers mention this, and of course, there are other conditions that I compiled in my book *The Hijab of the Muslim Woman*, which is currently being printed under the title *The Jilbab of the Muslim Woman*. Some of these conditions apply to women, and some also apply to men. There are eight conditions, among which is that the garment must not be tight-fitting on the 'awrah. The 'awrah of a woman is, of course, broader than the 'awrah of a man. It must not be tight-fitting. For example, it is not permissible to wear trousers for two reasons. The first reason is that they are part of the clothing of the disbelievers. The second reason is that they are tight-fitting on the thighs and buttocks, and indeed on what is between them, unfortunately. So this is clothing that also contradicts the Shari'ah. And even more so, it is not permissible for the garment to be transparent regarding the 'awrah, or to reveal what is below it. These transparent clothes seem to increase the fitnah of the 'awrah. Therefore, he (peace be upon him) said in the well-known hadith:
Two categories of people whom I have not yet seen: men carrying whips like the tails of cattle, with which they strike people, and women who are clothed yet naked, leaning and causing others to lean.
to the end of the hadith:
clothed yet naked كاسيات عاريات
They are clothed, meaning they are wearing clothes, but they are naked because they wear transparent clothes. So this is also not permissible. Is there something important?
