The Shaykh’s mention of the disagreement that occurred among the brothers regarding the reception of the book *Tammam al-Mannah*.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I find that this book, which I believe should have been one of the curricula of the Muslim Brotherhood, is imposed on every individual who belongs to them, just as they impose on them the letters of Hasan al-Banna (may Allah have mercy on him). I find the matter to be the opposite of that. I find, for example, in Damascus, some lodges studying this book, while other lodges are rejecting it and refusing it on the grounds of this word that I wished the earthworm, the woodworm, would eat it up: that this man is a Wahhabi. More than that, in some of the northern and southern regions of Syria, the entire group, from its leader to its followers, rejects this book on the same weak grounds mentioned. Yes?

The questioner : The northern and southern regions.

The Shaykh : The southern, northern, excuse me, excuse me, I made a mistake, the northeastern.

The questioner : Yes

The Shaykh : Yes, they reject this book categorically with the same weak argument mentioned previously. Why is there this conflict? How can I imagine the Muslim Brotherhood as loving and compassionate, when the Salafi among them, in the existing writings, is not satisfied with any alternative in fiqh to the book *Fiqh al-Sunnah* by al-Sayyid Sabiq? Others continue to read books that, in my opinion, can be described as having been consumed by the passage of time, such as *Maraqi al-Falah* in Hanafi fiqh, and al-Bajuri's *Hashiyah* in Shafi'i fiqh. In both of these books, as I hinted to you in the previous meeting, there are phrases that make one's forehead sweat just to mention them, and I am not going into them now. "A free man is satisfied with a gesture", as the saying goes.
How can the members of the Muslim Brotherhood truly be united, as the call was established for that purpose, when there is this far-reaching discord among them in the same town, in the same region of Syria, where the methodology in Islamic jurisprudential culture is completely different? Here, I found brothers on the Salafi call because of this movement that we call for, and we do not oppose anyone on the political side, because for everyone, as Allah the Exalted said:
For each [religious following] is a direction toward which it faces. So race to [all that is] good. ولكل وجهة هو موليها فاسبقوا الخيرات
[Al-Baqarah 2:148]
