The questioner: From "Thailand", yes.

The Shaykh : What do you want?

The questioner: I am asking you some questions, may Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : And may He reward you.

The questioner: Amen.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner: First: What is the ruling on placing lines to organize the rows in the mosque, whether by paint or by cloth?

The Shaykh: It is a modern religious innovation that is not permissible except temporarily and in a specific case; that is, if the mosque wall is misaligned with the qiblah and the people are misaligned with the wall’s deviation from the qiblah.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: To straighten their row, these lines are placed until the people of the mosque are able to straighten the wall itself in one way or another.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: This is the answer to the first question.

The questioner : May Allah preserve you.

The Shaykh : And beware of that.
